Version control for spreadsheets is still email. A clear difference preview is how a reviewer knows what they are signing, not only that the filename incremented.

No. It produces a difference list. Both source files stay unchanged.
The free tools return a limited anonymous preview and then discard the files. This feature is the signed-in workflow: saved versions, the complete change list, comments, and reports.
Workbook comparison is aimed at Excel versions. CSV can still be reconciled as datasets on the reconciliation path.
The compare focuses on values, formulas, and structure. Cosmetic formatting is not the primary output.
